Kingsburg was predestined to be a railroad town when the Central Pacific Railroad set its tracks throughout the area in 1873. It was also an agricultural region with mostly grape vineyards that produced tons of raisins and table grapes. Unsurprisingly, Kingsburg became the headquarters for Sun-Maid Growers of California—the famous raisin-producing company. Students at California State University, Fresno built the world’s largest box of raisins in Kingsburg.

A special landmark in Kingsburg is its water tower, which was built to resemble an antique Swedish coffee pot. The region has historically been primarily resided by a Swedish immigrant community, which strives to preserve its culture through festivals. The biggest and most well-known festival is called the Kingsburg Swedish Festival, which is held once a year at the beginning of May and attracts visitors from all over the world. The festival hosts a variety of activities, including a Swedish pancake breakfast and a parade that is followed by the coronation of the Swedish Festival Queen. According to the 2010 United States Census, Kingsburg has a population of 11, 382. The city has one skilled nursing facility and 11 assisted living facilities nearby.

Pressure ulcers, also referred to as bedsores or pressure sores, are prevalent among older adults residing in long-term care settings, including nursing home and assisted living facilities. These injuries can be extremely dangerous to the patient, jeopardizing their overall health, independence, and quality of life. Not only can pressure ulcers cause a significant amount of pain, they also take a long duration of time to heal, and can become more detrimental if left untreated.

Substantial evidence has shown that most pressure ulcers are preventable and should not have the chance to develop while the health of the patient is monitored by basic nursing care. Care providers that fail to give proper quality of care place their residents at increased risk of developing pressure ulcers. Long-term care facilities must ensure that they have the adequate amount of resources to meet their residents’ needs and prevent them from harmful events that threaten their health and quality of life.

If you or a loved one has experienced a pressure ulcer while under the care of a nursing home or assisted living facility, you may be a victim of Elder Abuse or Neglect. At the Law Offices of Ben Yeroushalmi, we believe that negative outcomes experienced by older adult residents is a consequence of inadequate care practices by nursing and assisted living staff. Contact us today if you or someone you love has suffered from an unnecessary or preventable injury due to the irresponsible care of a long-term care facility.

Ben was wonderful. He took our case when no one else was interested or wanted way to much money. We would highly recommend Ben because he really listens and takes your situation into consideration. We settled our case and we were only unhappy with one thing and that was the confidentiality clause but that was not Ben's fault it came with the deal. June
